So, my mom has been asking me to design her a Tshirt for a Math Conference she has coming up. She's running the math department, or creating the curriculum or something like that for her school district. I was down to the wire, but was finally able to create something both she and all her teacher friends liked. I uploaded my design on Custom Ink's website. Then, I just sent her the link so she could order whatever she needed and in whatever sizes she needed. It was super easy

Revealing My String Art Project - Remember that string art project from last week? Here is the final product: I was finally able to get it out the door, to the mailman, and safely delivered to my cousin. It was a little housewarming gift, and yes, I'm a little sad I couldn't keep it for myself. We have no "e"s in our family, but I felt like I did such a great job and it turned out so nice that I didn't want to let it go. Oh, well, I guess I'll have to make another. :) This D

It's finished! Updated Drysink Photos: It took a little bit of elbow grease, and way too much time to wax, but it's finally finished! I put the hardware back on and it is good to go! I love the way the white knobs looks with the "tiffany blue" color. Take a look at my new rebar and wood bookcase! I am super excited about the way this turned out. After stripping off the paint layers (part 1 of the DIY), I used a Dutch oil in Dark Walnut to stain and condition the wood. When I was rubbing on the oil, I noticed two circular rings in the wood on the bottom shelf that wouldn't take any stain. I bet gramps made those marks when he was painting this shelf for the first time and they left imprints in the wood. How cool. The final

Stripping off the Wood - I've just begun to work refinishing another really great piece of furniture built by my gramps. It's a 3 tier bookcase shelf he built with wood and rebar. It was painted a not so pretty tan color, but again, it is in really decent shape and super sturdy. I used paint stripper and took off that yucky tan paint color layer, along with a coat of blue paint I found hidden below it. The paint color for coat #2 is soo much better! I added one more part of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Florence and that did the trick! My new ratio for Tiffany Blue Chalk Paint is: 6 parts Pure White 3 parts Florence 1 part Provence ... and it truly made a perfect Tiffany blue (see photo below). The second coat dried a lot darker than the first as well and that helped a lot! You can no longer see any brush strokes and it covered extremely well concidering it was a very dark sta

A Work in Progress. Here is the dry sink with the first coat of chalk paint: Not so pretty, I know. The streaks and paint strokes I'm fine with, I am sure they will disapear with the second coat of paint. I'm a little nervous about the color. Not exacly the shade of blue I want.
