I'm back in the garden again. Well, its' more like a bunch of pots cluttering up my deck, but it works.
I purchased a bunch of organic herbs this summer at a local garden shop. I went in looking for Lemongrass because I hear it keeps snakes, away. I ended up with Lemongrass, Italian Oregano, French Thyme, Rosemary, French Lavender, Mint, Peppermint, Basil and Cilantro. All organic.
I love to cook and usually use Penzeys Spices (the best spices ever, in my opinion), but figured it would be nice to use some fresh stuff when the weather was nice, and maybe even freeze some to use in the winter.
These had better keeps snakes, bees, bugs and every other obnoxious summer critters away!
I wanted to make little herb markers (so my husband could tell them all apart) and I found these blank chalkboard labels at Michaels. They already had the black paint on them. I figured using actual chalk on these would be silly, they would only last until the next rain shower, so I decided to use something a little more permanent.
I always have sharpies in the house, both the ink and the paint ones. The paint markers are oil based and work really well for full coverage projects. That's what I went with. Needed two coats of white, but they turned out really nice. Brushed on a little Mod Podge and they should be a bit more weather proof.
